Direct Hauler vs. Broker

What Changes When You Book Direct

Dumpster Hub is a local dumpster rental company in Longview TX — owner-operated, no broker. Most of what's quoted online for Longview dumpster rentals comes from a national broker, not a local hauler. A broker takes your order, adds a margin, and relays the job to whoever has a truck available in your area. For a standard job with no complications, that usually works. The difference shows when the details matter — when the load is heavier than expected, the project runs long, or the driveway needs attention before a container lands on it. That is exactly when knowing our process — and who you are actually calling — makes a real difference.

It also shows on the invoice. Because brokers don't haul the load, they don't always receive the Pine Hill Landfill weight ticket — the independent scale document that shows what your load actually weighed. When an overage charge appears on your card after pickup, a broker may not be able to provide the document that verifies it. We include the Pine Hill weight ticket with every invoice, every time.

Years in East Texas Driveways

Our Story

Why We Built a Local Dumpster Rental Company in Longview, TX

I'm George McCoy. The call that pushed me to start Dumpster Hub came in 2019. A homeowner in Spring Hill had been charged a weight overage after a kitchen gut-out — no explanation from the broker, no weight ticket, just a number on her card. She'd pulled original ceramic tile, plaster walls, and cast iron plumbing. Anyone who had hauled from a Gregg County home that age would have flagged the weight risk in the first conversation. The broker never had it.

I was already running my own truck. I started Dumpster Hub to make that conversation the first thing that happens, every time. You call, you reach the person dispatching the truck. The flat-rate price is confirmed before the call ends. The Pine Hill weight ticket comes with the invoice so you can verify the number yourself.

That scope is honest. A national site can list every city in Texas from one office. We don't. We run Gregg County, Harrison County, Rusk County, and Upshur County — the area we can reach from our yard and actually know. Seven years of Longview driveways. Five East Texas hail seasons. When something changes mid-project, you're calling the same person who took your first order.

Field Knowledge

What 7 Years of Gregg County Deliveries Taught Us

2019

East Texas clay is not a footnote — it is the job

First year of deliveries across Spring Hill and older Longview neighborhoods showed us what Gregg County's Vertisol clay does after spring rain. A container that lands on dry August clay lands very differently on the same driveway in April after three weeks of rain. Surface impressions, cracked concrete, shifted pavers. Plywood became standard on every delivery — not just flagged requests — after that first spring season.

2021–22

Pre-1985 homes entered the gut cycle — and weight changed every sizing conversation

Homes near Judson Road and north of downtown — mostly built before 1985 — began the interior renovation wave that is still ongoing. Plaster-over-lath walls, cast iron plumbing, original clay tile, solid hardwood built-ins. Customers who sized for volume went over the weight allowance. Plaster runs 3 to 5 times heavier per cubic foot than modern drywall. Weight education became the most important part of the first call: what are the walls, what is the floor, is there cast iron plumbing. The sizing conversation shifted from "how much stuff" to "what kind of stuff."

Apr 2023

The hailstorm that proved broker inventory is not real inventory

On April 2, 2023, 1.75-inch hail crossed Longview, White Oak, Hallsville, and Kilgore in one event. Roofing contractor calls hit across four ZIP codes within 48 hours. A standard 30-square roof tear-off produces 3 to 5 tons of shingle, felt, and decking. With eight roofs running simultaneously across Gregg County, every committed container was spoken for within a day. National broker sites had no real local inventory to deploy — they were relaying orders to haulers already booked solid. We dispatched from our own yard and confirmed every window we could take. Every job we could not fit, we referred to a direct hauler we trusted. The storm made one thing permanent: broker inventory is a listing, not a truck.

Now

The call George still takes every morning

George takes the morning dispatch calls himself. Most callers have already gotten a quote from a national site. They call because the broker couldn't answer: does a Spring Hill driveway need plywood after last week's rain? What does a 1978 kitchen gut actually weigh with the tile and plaster? Is a 10-yard tight for shingles and water-damaged decking on an 1,800-square-foot roof? Those questions get answered in the first call, before the truck is scheduled — because the person answering has made those deliveries.

Customer Reviews

What Gregg County Customers Actually Say

Not satisfaction statements. Longview homeowners and contractors who had a specific problem, made the call, and got a specific result.

Weight sizing — cast iron and blown insulation

"We almost ordered a 10-yard for a Judson Rd garage and attic cleanout. George asked what was in the attic — turned out we had old blown insulation and cast iron radiators to pull. He moved us to a 20-yard before we committed. Right call. Filled it in three days and barely had room to close the load. Would have paid for a second container if we'd gone smaller."

Pricing transparency — Pine Hill weight ticket

"Eight years roofing across Gregg County. Every other company I've used either calls with a surprise charge after pickup or never explains the overage rate upfront. These guys gave me the per-ton rate before the truck rolled and sent the Pine Hill weight ticket with every invoice. Three roofs this spring, zero billing surprises. That's what I need when I'm running multiple jobs at once."

Tile weight + Spring Hill driveway protection

"Gutted our Spring Hill kitchen — ceramic tile, concrete backer, cabinets, countertops. I called thinking a 10-yard. George explained that tile and concrete backer add up by weight before they fill the volume. Went with the 20-yard. The tile alone ran heavier than I expected — he was right. Driver put plywood down before the container touched the pavers. Our driveway is original and I was worried. Every call he made was the right one."

Every Commitment We Make, On Every Job

✔

Flat price before the truck rolls

You hear the price on the call. That is the price on the invoice. Not a range. Not an estimate. A flat number before we schedule anything.

✔

Overage rate disclosed before you commit

The per-ton overage rate is quoted in the same call as the base price. Your worst-case total is on the table before you decide.

✔

Pine Hill weight ticket with every invoice

Every load is weighed at Pine Hill Landfill. You receive the scale ticket. Any overage charge matches it. Verify independently.

✔

Plywood on every clay-risk delivery

Spring Hill, older Judson Road, White Oak with original driveways — plywood goes down before the container lands, without being asked.

✔

Same person answers when plans change

Project runs long, driveway is softer than expected, need a swap — you reach George directly. No broker relay. No call center.

✔

No upsell to a larger container you do not need

If a 10-yard is the right size, that is what we recommend. We have no financial reason to move you up unless weight or volume genuinely requires it.
